In June 2020, Apple introduced the latest version of its operating system, which was then launched on September 16. IOS 14 is Apple’s one of the major iOS updates to date. The update brings several new features and changes. Let’s have a look at that.
Widgets Earlier, widgets were only available on the Today Screen, but with iOS 14, new widgets will provide timely information at a single look, and one can pin them onto any home screen page in different sizes. Widgets are more information-rich than ever and comes in several sizes. With a smart stack feature, the iPhone can use on-device intelligence to surface the right widget based on activity, time, and location. Each home screen can show widgets customized for sports, travel, work, and more. App Library Swiping through the end of the app pages on an iPhone opens the new app library through which all the apps can be seen at a glance. IOS 14 introduced a new app library view in order to organize all of your apps. You don’t have to keep all of the icons on your actual home screen view as apps are automatically organized in the App library. You also have a new list view as features of organizing applications based on usage and more. App Clips Apple introduced app clips to iOS 14, allowing users to take advantage of some app features without downloading the entire app. Through app clips you can buy a coffee, rent a bike, and make a reservation by just scanning the code, without the need to completely download the app. It’s a small part of an app linked with a specific product or business and designed to download right away as soon as it needed to be. They are automatically removed from your mobile after thirty days. Messages Inline and mentions are being added in group threads, and emoji options would also be introduced. There would also be an option to set a group photo using an emoji or an image. Users can now mute a group conversation but will still get notified when their name is directly mentioned. Users can also now pin an important conversation to make it stay at the top of the app. You can pin the messages with a single swipe to the right on any chat. In group chats, icons for each person at the top of the chat will show who was speaking last. Translate App A newly designed translate app feature has been introduced by apple. By tapping on the microphone icon, the app will translate your chosen language. It offers voice and text translations from 11 languages. Through an on-device mode, languages can be downloaded for on-device translations only. Through a conversation mode, translations are spoken aloud so that users can talk with a person who speaks different languages. It also automatically detects the language being spoken and translates it rightly. EndNote IOS 14 was a significant update, bringing many overall changes to the iOS experience.
